While a schoolteacher Tom ran Ski boats to supplement his income. Eventually running a 28ft commercial ski
boat from the Mtunzini river mouth in Zululand. Sam ,our ZULU deckhand ,has been with us from a teenager.

Fly Fishermen have had great excitement on Lynski--hooking and losing SEVEN Marlin and catching many other fish eg. Snoek; Yellowfin Tuna; Bonito; Skipjack Tuna and Dorado.
Sam our excellent Zulu Deckhand has, to-date, the honor of catching, the 2nd heaviest ever Marlin off Durban, and so winning the 2002 Umhlanga Festival, Billfish section.
